The CIRS Pension Plan is designed to provide you with a fixed monthly benefit payable over your lifetime. Your pension benefit is calculated from a formula using your salary history and years of Creditable Service. Your employer pays the full cost of providing the Pension Plan. Pension Estimates

CIRS Pension Plan estimates are available by calling CIRS Service Center at 1-866-719-2477 or visiting the web site at cirs.ingplans.com. These estimates will give you an idea of what your benefit may be like when you reach retirement.

Participant Services Representatives are available to speak with you from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday, except when the stock market is closed.

Use the CIRS Service Center or CIRS Web Site for the following information:

  • See your accrued benefit 
  • Request an estimate
  • To start your pension benefit
  • Ask questions about the Plan.

To conduct most transactions you will need your Personal Identification Number (PIN). To request a PIN reminder mailing call the Service Center or visit the Web Site.

The CIRS Service Center automated line is available 24 hours a day, 7-days a week. Using the automated line you can check your balances, change your contribution percentage, or change your investment fund elections.

Overview

 The Participant Service Center is available for CIRS retiree’s and beneficiaries from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST. All calls are handled by a Participant Service Representative who is knowledgeable in the defined benefit area. All calls are recorded. During the first week of the month there is a pre-recorded message that informs the caller exactly when their payments were mailed. In addition, through the Retiree Service Center you can: 

  • Obtain standard explanation of the check received, including breakdown by pay source, federal and state taxes, other deductions, begin and end dates of current and future pay sources and/or deductions.

  • Verify primary and secondary address information and/or request change of address (address change should be sent in writing).

  • Request electronic deposit forms to enroll, change, or cancel electronic direct deposit  (ACH, EFT) of the monthly benefit.

  • Request Form W4P for change in federal withholding amounts.

  • Request change in state withholding amount.

  • Inquire to the status of their check if not received on a timely basis.

  • Request a stop payment and reissue

  • Obtain standard explanation of 1099R form.

  • Request copy of 1099 form.

All calls are handled by a participant service representative (PSR) who is knowledgeable in the defined benefit area.  All calls are recorded.  During the first week of the month there is a pre-recorded message that informs the caller exactly when their payments were mailed.  The call center is open from 9:00 to 5:00 EST.
